About the bank FNB

First National Bank traces its origins back to the Eastern Triocrees Province Bank. It was founded in 1838, and by 1874, it had four branches at Grahamstown, Middelburg, Cradock, and Queenstown. After the Second Anglo-Boer War in 1902, the name of this bank was changed to the National Bank of South Africa Limited.

The National Bank bought the Bank of Africa in 1912 due to the recession and became one of the strongest and largest banks in South Africa. In the early 1920s, the National Bank suffered from bad debt and merged with the Anglo-Egyptian Bank and Colonial Bank in 1925. In 1998, National Bank merged with FirstRand and became a wholly-owned subsidiary of FirstRand Limited. It is currently one of the three major divisions of the FirstRand Group.

FNB aims to transform a good business and help create a better world. FNB contributed to saving the environment by reducing the use of paper.
